The March NFTBox Sale — What is What

PSA: A ticket allows you to BUY a box, you do not redeem a box with a ticket, you redeem the opportunity to buy a box.

March sees us introduce our new ticket system to attempt to battle the bots and ensure a more wide distribution of our boxes to our collectors. Everyone who tried to purchase a box in Feb and interacted with our contract (paid gas), held a Genesis / Feb box at a certain snapshot in time or contacted us on discord / twitter before we hit 800 different wallets were all airdropped a ticket today.

A ticket is a guarantee that you can purchase a box if you so please. You can either pre-purchase a box following a method we spoke about here: https://medium.com/@nftboxes/how-to-reserve-an-nftbox-b79e50bbf303

Note: This is best done before the sale starts but will no longer be possible after 22:25 on the 19th March.

Or you can purchase a box between 21:00 GMT and approximately 23:00 GMT on the 19th March. The reason to wait for the sale is to get a lower Box ID number. The first person to buy a box gets box #1. The second transaction to buy a box gets #2, so on and so forth. The contents of the boxes are randomized, #1 box, does not get all of the other #1s in the box for example, they are randomly distributed. However some people will fight it out for the first box of each month. This will included higher gas fees and ETH experience. If you know you are going to be around for the first three quarters of the sale you will be able to buy a box with a lower ID than if you reserved one — the question is, does that matter to you? There is always the risk you forget about the sale and your ticket loses its use.

After 23:00 GMT anyone will be able to purchase the remaining boxes. This is where we could see the issues we saw last month. Those with more experience with ETH, timing transactions and upping gas are much more likely to get these boxes than someone new to ETH. I have been using ETH for close to four years now but just yesterday I missed out on the first two tranches of the pixls sale despite sending a transaction as the exact unlock time. Ethereum drops can be brutal and costly if you miss out, which is why we have released this ticket system to remove the stress for many. With a ticket there is no risk of missing a box as long as you have the ETH to buy and remember about the sale / reservation.

When you reserve or buy a box with a ticket, you will be given a ripped ticket in return. The ticket you used to buy the box will be burnt and this new ripped ticket will be your memento of the purchase. You do not need to hold onto this to get your reserved box, you can sell it if you so wish. No, buying a ripped ticket does not mean you will be getting a reserved box.

You have 3 options:

1. Buy a ticket: Remember, these are sold on the open market, anyone can charge whatever they want, this is not NFTBoxes selling the tickets, this is the people we have distributed them to. Only you can say if you would value a ticket as they do.

2. Try to buy any of the boxes which are not bought with tickets: As mentioned above, this is likely to be an Eth pro purchasing round. Those with the technical skills will out pace those without. You can try your luck in this stage, but it could hurt in gas!
3. Aim for April: In April we will distribute our tickets slightly differently. 50% of the tickets will be allocated to our farming winners — those who hold our NFTs and are blessed by RNG. 25% will be given our socially, interacting with the community. Maybe top talkers, maybe fastest finger first. All we will say is interacting with the community. We won’t say exactly how as that will then lead to manipulation. 20% will be handed out via giveaways. Twitter giveaways for retweeting and following etc, you have all seen them. The rest will be held by the team either for artists and partnerships or last minute hype drops when we have used our allocation however we need. We will have another post on the April drop in time, just working on some graphics to make life easier!

We will have graphics soon to try and visually explain this all, I know walls of text can be boring but getting the information out there to everyone that is willing to read it all in the mean time is something we felt we needed to do.
